A followspot is sometimes known as a spotlight and is a powerful stage light which can be controlled by a human spotlight operator to "follow" actors around the stage.

Followspots are commonly used in concerts and are usually located in the overhead catwalks, theatres, halls and can also be found commonly in control booths in addition to the catwalk.
